Bayou Boogaloo 

Bayou Boogaloo returns to the banks of Bayou St. John this May 20-22. This fun-filled music fest has great food, great music, and a decent amount of sun exposure, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle. The lineup includes Ani DiFranco, Squirrel Nut Zippers, the Soul Rebels ft. Big Freedia, and more. Tickets start at $10. 

Mean Girls, The Musical 

Tina Fey’s smash hit and instant cult classic “Mean Girls” is indeed now a musical, and said musical is coming to New Orleans May 17-22. Watch as Cady Heron confronts Regina George and squad through song and dance. Catch it at the Saenger Theater, tickets start at $32. 

Egito da Rainha Nefertari

This spring at the New Orleans Museum of Art, journey into ancient Egypt by way of Queen Nefertari. Queen Nefertari, the royal wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II (reigned 1279–13 BCE), is linked to some of the most magnificent monuments of ancient Egypt. Now, artifacts found within her tomb are on display here in New Orleans for a limited time only, March 18-July 17. Learn more and purchase your tickets in advance here

Aniversário do 50º show do Friday Night Fights (Parte III) 

Hosted by Friday Night Fights Gym/HQ and Freret Street Boxing Gym, Friday Night Fights hosts the third installment of its 50th show celebration on May 20. The boxing-match-turned-block-party is a highly entertaining blend of athleticism and showmanship. Fighting enthusiasts and amateur spectators alike will enjoy this BYOB show featuring dancers, DJs, drag and burlesque performances, crowd contests, and much more. Tickets are $20 in advance. 

Family Festival: The Mighty Mississippi 

Enjoy this family-friendly event on Sunday, May 22. It’ll feature art-making activities, a workshop with Grow Dat Youth Farm, and youth performances. Admission and programming are free, and pre-registration is encouraged. 

Sports car racing at NOLA Motorsports Park 

A weekend of action-packed racing awaits you at NOLA Motorports Park. A grid of supercars including Acura, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche will race, and there will be activities for the whole family to enjoy. The event runs May 20-22. 

NOLA Project’s Treasure Island 

Enjoy a family-friendly production of Treasure Island, a take on the play by Robert Louis Stevenson. A pirate, an adventure, and a ship bound for Skull Island will take the audience on a grand journey in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The play runs from May 11-27.
